Journey of a confused-preneur to soulpreneur: 3 lessons of 3 years being in business

3 years in business feels like 3 decades. They seem long not because they were painful, they seem long because there were so many epiphanies, pivots, transformations, and awakenings, and many times such deep realizations take a lot out of you. I did not start my business thinking that it will be a path of personal and spiritual transformation for me.

Now the amount of respect I have for other entrepreneurs out there is limitless. It’s not at all rosy neither is it all rocky and downhill. It’s what I like to call the perfect synchronicity of the highest highs and the lowest lows. It’s like walking on a tightrope whether you fall or fly. You walk the tightrope and what matters is how focused, how much at ease, and in love with developing skill to walk the rope and get masterful at the art of rope walking you are. While pivoting, expanding, and awakening along the way.

Entrepreneurship is ultimately a spiritual path of letting go of all that is not you and unbecoming all that you thought was you to really be your own authentic un-contaminated version of yourself. That feels unknown and almost unfamiliar in the beginning. It’s like marrying the unknown and being okay being uncomfortable all the freaking time.

These are the 3 most valuable lessons I have learned in the last 3 years:

Challenges, fears, and the lows of your business/life are where the real treasure is:

Learning to see the gift in the down moment is an art and a skill that needs to developed or should I say automatically gets developed when you become an entrepreneur because if you resist your fears and hide them rests assured they will come back stronger and bigger the next time. It felt like I was living my life on the edge of the cliff of a very high mountain daily. Until I learned the art of finding the gold in my fears and embracing and honoring them.

The highs and success moments in business and life are momentary:

The sooner you learn to fill your life and day to day moments with gratitude and grace the better it is. Otherwise, you will run out of motivation and mojo very soon! It’s in the peak moments you must embrace, empower and fill up your not enough tank so you have enough fuel to run through your next valley.

The real goal of any business is in the journey and the process of unbecoming and detachment:

The above 2 gifts will become easier to learn and embody when you fully acknowledge and learn that it's all about the journey and not the goals and outcomes. You own your labour and not the fruit of it.

This has been the hardest lesson for me to learn but the moment I dropped the heaviness around the outcomes and goals to be done exactly as I wished or even to put timelines and conditions around my outcomes I suddenly felt so much freedom and lightness. The journey is all I have to enjoy and take responsibility for. It's the result that I have to get detached from.

I now fully understand the responsibility and impact of my voice, my experiences, and my healing that can have a repelling effect on those around me whom I serve on a daily basis. Hence the last 3 years have been an enormous gift and awakening for me. It has evolved from being an external thing I did to get a career, and identity to beginning an inward involution of sorts. I feel blessed and humbled for the fact that I get to earn a living and make a lifestyle from doing and being only what brings me extreme joy and love.

I would love to hear from you what were your key takeaways from this blog?
